What we do

EarthShare is a national non-profit that’s worked for more than 20 years to connect people and organizations with effective ways to support critical environmental causes. With your help we've raised more than $260 million for programs that care for our air, land, water, wildlife and public health -- in your community, across the U.S. and around the world!

Each year we connect hundreds of thousands of individuals with environmental and conservation charities through employee engagement & giving campaigns at public and private sector workplaces across the country.

Today EarthShare supports 71 national organizations and hundreds of local groups in 22 states. Our member charities work hard to safeguard your health, our quality of life and the natural resources we all depend on. EarthShare's mission: To engage individuals and organizations in creating a healthy and sustainable environment.

Our goal is to be your trusted and proven way to support America's most respected environmental and conservation charities, whether it's through your workplace or online.

We've worked hard to earn your trust! EarthShare consistently receives high ratings for sound fiscal management from independent charity evaluators and is a Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance Accredited Charity.

What does EarthShare do?
EarthShare manages employee engagement and giving campaigns to increase support for its member charities. Our program amps up employee engagement, raises critical funding, and builds awareness about environmental issues that affect all of us, every day. Our workplace giving program lets employees pledge a small amount of each paycheck to the charities of their choice.

What is EarthShare @ Work?
EarthShare @ Work engages employees and helps them connect with and contribute to eligible, screened charities through payroll contribution or credit card gifts. EarthShare @ Work is an easy way for employers to give back to communities and address important issues impacting our country and the world. The charities involved have the advantage of receiving stable, regular funding with little or no administrative costs.

EarthShare @ Work supports CSR initiatives, philanthropy and your company’s green goals. Our toolkit includes:

What charities can I support through EarthShare?
EarthShare's member charities represent the full range of environmental issues. Just one general donation to EarthShare can touch all of these causes. On the other hand, if you have a preference you may direct your gift to one or more specific member organizations. The choice is yours.

How much of my donation goes to the member charities?
EarthShare’s member charities receive 100% of all contributions designated to them by donors. EarthShare also has one of the lowest overheads of any comparable federation: Only 4.9% of our budget goes to administrative and fundraising costs. Overhead rates vary from state to state for campaigns including EarthShare's affiliates.

How does EarthShare screen its member charities?
EarthShare requires applicant organizations to meet 17 different criteria before they're considered for membership. Our strict eligibility criteria were established so our partners and donors can be sure EarthShare  represents outstanding charities that operate with the highest possible ethical and professional standards. All current members undergo annual reviews.
